Rory Butcher put his new Focus ST4 on pole position at Motorbase’s home circuit Brands Hatch
With the Grand Prix layout being used in sweltering conditions with track conditions up to 40c, the cars took to the track.
On only his fourth lap Butcher put a mighty lap in to qualify on pole. The best of the championship contenders Dan Cammish is his Honda Civic narrowly missed out on pole but will line up on the front row. Ollie Jackson enjoyed his best qualifying in his BTCC career in third whilst local racer Jake Hill bounced back from his dreadful luck last time out at Donington to start fourth.
Reigning champion Turkington lines up on the third row, with race three winner last time out Sutton having a difficult time out on track. Several times he ran wide in his Infiniti Q50 with several lap times disallowed, he ended up fourteenth with work to do.
Several other drivers had laps disallowed as well as running wide at Sheene curve, including a wild moment for Adam Morgan in the final stages.
