Cammish Takes Pole At Thruxton

Dan Cammish beats Tom Ingram with mighty lap around the fastest circuit

As the field left the pits, it quickly became clear it was a front wheel drive car that would take top spot. As it turned out the first seven cars were front wheel drive with Colin Turkington being the best rear wheel drive car starting eighth.

Ash Sutton started the session strong, his second flying lap saw Sutton stuck in traffic heading to the final chicane he ran wide. Brakes issues still hampering the Laser tools racing team, Sutton ended the session in eleventh.

At the front Ingram set the initial pace, the lap time standing for the majority of the session. Jake Hill was enjoying another great outing sitting in second until the final few minutes when he dropped to fifth overall.

Matt Neal at Honda’s home race enjoyed his best qualifying of the year, putting his Honda in third after being on pole before Ingram and Cammish pipped him. Adam Morgan put his Mercedes in fourth in the dying moments of the session for his best grid position of 2020. Returning racers Rob Austin (PMR) and Tom Onslow-Cole (Team Hard) will like up 16th and 25th for tomorrow’s first race.

All the action will be on ITV 2 Once again with three races tomorrow.
