Lewis Proctor prevailed in the Intelligent Money British GT Championship’s closest-ever qualifying session at Oulton Park earlier today to claim pole position for tomorrow’s first race. The Optimum Motorsport McLaren lapped one-thousandth-of-a-second faster than Jordan Witt (2 Seas Motorsport) in Q1, while Phil Keen pipped his Barwell Motorsport team-mate Sandy Mitchell to Race 2 pole.
GT4: POLES FOR TF SPORT AND BALFE
Connor O’Brien backed up his free practice pace by claiming GT4 pole for Sunday’s first race.
The TF Sport Aston Martin set two laps quick enough for top spot before ultimately beating Sam Smelt and the new Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Supra by 0.374s. Patrik Matthiesen’s HHC Motorsport McLaren completed the top-three.
Elsewhere, Euan Hankey will start Race 2 up front in Balfe Motorsport’s 570S after beating TF Sport’s Jamie Caroline by just 0.027s. The latter’s final lap fell agonisingly short of pole but was still sufficient to see off Jordan Collard who matched his HHC co-driver’s third place.
