Updated: Provisional Racing Calendars Begin To Take Shape

With the hopes that racing can once again commence in July, many series and clubs are beginning to release updated calendars.

With Motorsport UK suspending all racing permits until the end of June, preparations are underway for racing to commence in July. The first races to get under way will be from various UK racing clubs, with BRSCC and the Historic Car Club announcing race meetings. The 750 Motor Club will hope to start mid July at Snetterton with their calendar to be announced soon.

The British GT and the BTCC have announced their respective seasons will start at the beginning of August and run through until November. Several calendar clashes could prove problematic for teams in multiple series, with the British GT Donington round clashing with the revised date for the Le Mans 24 hour. The other problem will be marshals, with several big meetings being held on the same weekend, recruiting enough marshals could cause organisers a headache.

The BRSCC has a condensed calendar ending on 31st October, each category will feature four rounds, this is something the 750 Motor Club and others will follow in due course.

The main concern will be, this is all provisional due to the current pandemic and it is feared the UK clubs will suffer as the events deemed ‘big’ like BTCC and British GT will have priority, this could force some clubs to lose out on race weekends.

Motorsport UK have issued documentation regarding the return to racing safely. The most prominent point is no spectators for the foreseeable future and to limit numbers of personnel at the track, it will be interesting to see how it all pans over the coming months. We shall bring you updates with the latest news from racing clubs over the next few weeks.

Below is the provisional racing calendars that have been released so far:

Update on the 750 Motor club, they plan to continue their calendar from Snetterton 18th & 19th July with the exception of the Silverstone meeting being cancelled the second week of August due to the F1 British Grand Prix.
